‘Karuppu’ Locks Release Date: Suriya, Trisha Krishnan’s Rural Possession Drama Is Coming Sooner Than You Think
Suriya fans have a lot to look forward to this summer. He has two big releases lined up, "Karuppu" and "Vishwanath & Sons." Today, the makers announced the release date of "Karuppu," which is coming to theatres May 14. The movie is directed by R J Balaji. The film is about a lawyer as well as a deity. Suriya is playing the double role of the lawyer, Saravanan and the deity, Karuppuswamy. Trishna Krishnan is the leading lady of "Karuppu." In 2025, he was seen in Karthik Subbaraj's "Retro," which starred Pooja Hegde.

The teaser of "Vishwanath & Sons" was released two days ago. Suriya and Mamitha Baiju's chemistry has been called "promising" and fans are hoping for a good romantic family entertainer. On the other hand, "Karuppu" seems to be a more intense film. There was a lot of speculation around the release of this movie. It was supposed to come sometime in April. R J Balaji had assured fans of a release date via Instagram. He said, "Now, back to the grind, we are resuming work on 'Karuppu.' I understand the disappointment the fans, especially Suriya’s fans, have, as this statement has been made multiple times before. Of course, it has been a long wait for me, too. I have been working on this for almost two years."
Suriya is playing a lawyer who gets possessed by the deity in "Karuppu." R J Balaji had added in his earlier Instagram Live, "Your wait will be worth it. I am also not in the mindset to take more time for this. Within a week or 10 days, we will meet you with news about the film’s release date. I will also say that the film is not releasing on April 10." Sai Abhyankkar is the music composer of the film.
