VIVA’s Discography Hits Streaming Platforms After Two Decades

If you grew up in the early 2000s, you don’t just remember VIVA, you remember the exact feeling of empowerment that rushed through you the first time you heard “Jaago Zara” or danced along to “Hum Naye Geet Sunaye.” As India’s pioneering all-girl pop band, VIVA debuted in 2002, bringing with them individuality, unapologetic confidence and female representation to mainstream Indian music long before it was trendy.

But for nearly twenty years, loving VIVA came with a frustrating catch.

As the music industry transitioned from cassettes and CDs into the digital streaming era, VIVA’s official audio catalog quietly vanished from mainstream platforms. Fans looking to scratch that nostalgic itch had to resort to low-quality, unofficial uploads on random video accounts. That changes today.

In what can only be described as a massive victory for Indipop nostalgia, VIVA’s entire audio catalog has made an official, legal and high-definition comeback. Thanks to a collaborative effort between the band and JioStar, their music is finally streaming officially on the KaanPhod YouTube music channel (JioStar’s youth-focused music platform) and all major audio streaming platforms.

For the members of VIVA, this digital resurrection is just as emotional for them as it is for the fans who never stopped listening.

Speaking about VIVA’s legacy, Anushka Manchanda expresses, “VIVA represents a powerful moment in time that laid the foundation for us to be strong, independent women. We are humbled and grateful for the love we have continued to receive over the last two decades, and so this moment feels all the more magical as it comes together.”

An excited Neha Bhasin says, “VIVA was never just a band, it became a feeling, a memory and an entire era for us and for a generation that grew up with our music. As India’s first pop girl band, we shared something truly special together and that connection has stayed alive over the years through the incredible love of our audiences. I’m so happy that the songs and videos which defined so many millennial memories will now finally be available for newer generations to discover, experience and enjoy as well.”

Pratichee Mohapatra shares, “VIVA feels inseparable from who I am, almost like an extension of my own name. It was where my musical journey truly began, shaping me not just as an artist but as a person. It holds some of my happiest memories, deepest friendships and biggest milestones. Seeing the music return after all these years feels emotional, nostalgic and a little surreal. There’s something beautiful about knowing these songs will now become part of the lives of both old listeners and an entirely new generation.”

Mahua Kamat adds, “The music of VIVA is finally returning to where it has always belonged with the listeners who have carried these songs in their hearts for all these years. The love and support we’ve continued to receive across generations has been truly overwhelming, and it means so much to know that fans everywhere can now stream, rediscover and celebrate these songs all over again.”

At a time when Gen Z is enthusiastically rediscovering early-2000s Y2K culture, the official return of VIVA couldn’t be more perfectly timed.
