The ‘Musafir Cafe’ Effect: Vikrant Massey To Open Cafes In Uttarakhand And Himachal
Vikrant Massey is set to take "Musafir Cafe" beyond the screen, with two new cafés planned in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The spaces are being developed through his production house Homemade Stories, with construction already underway at both locations.
The cafés will recreate the space seen in the series, while the project will also include around 20 rooms intended for artist residencies. The idea is to extend the fictional café from the show into physical spaces that can also accommodate artists and creators.
Massey played Chander in "Musafir Cafe", which follows his character as he moves to the hills and works towards building a life around a café. The café becomes a central part of his journey and the setting of the series.

The Himachal connection also has a personal link for Massey. His wife, actor Sheetal Thakur, is from Himachal Pradesh, with her family roots in Shahtalai in Bilaspur district. The couple also married in a traditional Himachali ceremony at her ancestral home in the state in 2022.
The upcoming cafés are expected to replicate elements of the on screen space, while the planned artist residency rooms will provide accommodation for creators. Exact locations, opening dates and the operating model for the cafés have not yet been announced.
"Musafir Cafe" was filmed at Jharipani Castle in Mussoorie, which has also drawn attention as the real location of the café seen in the series.
The new project marks an expansion of the "Musafir Cafe" world into physical spaces, with Massey’s production house moving the café concept from the series into hospitality and artist residency spaces.
