Ajith Kumar fans were thrilled when it was announced that his next film, “Dare Devil,” directed by Adhik Ravichandran, will begin filming on November 2. Shalini Ajithkumar, actress and wife of Ajith Kumar, is making her debut as a producer under her Bravehearts Productions banner and has unveiled a first-look poster showing Ajith Kumar seated on a red leather chair, dressed in a white suit and holding a pair of dice. It marks Ajith and Adhik’s second collaboration after their last release, the 2025 mass action entertainer “Good, Bad, Ugly.”

It has been a long gap for Ajith Kumar, who was concentrating on racing. The film was earlier expected to begin in January 2026. But reports emerged of a change in producers, with Shalini Ajith Kumar taking over the production. “Dare Devil” has music by Anirudh and cinematography by Abhinandhan Ramanujam. The rest of the cast will be announced closer to the shoot. Buzz is that Kayadu Lohar is likely to be cast as the female lead in this mass masala family action entertainer.

Meanwhile, the trade is happy with the announcement, as Ajith Kumar remains one of Tamil cinema’s most commercially viable top stars. The Ajith-versus-Vijay fan battles have fuelled the box office over the last few years. With Vijay joining politics and becoming Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and Ajith being seen more on the motor-racing circuit, everyone thought it was all over. Vijay and Ajith’s bonhomie at the Silverstone Circuit in the UK, where they embraced each other, seems to have put decades of perceived fan rivalry behind them.

Reels of the two stars hugging on the track have clocked millions of views. Some of these videos might feature in Tamil director AL Vijay’s forthcoming “Gladiators – In Pursuit Of Challenges,” a 90-minute motorsport documentary-drama that may get a theatrical release.

“Dare Devil” is expected to release in the summer of 2027, and with the two biggest fan armies finally setting their rivalry aside, the stage is set for the film to turn into one massive celebration.
