‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Remains Cinegoers’ First Choice Despite the Arrival of ‘DC,’ ‘G.D.N.’ and ‘Ohh My Dog’
Tom Holland’s “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” continues to be the top choice for cinegoers despite the arrival of new releases across languages. In fact, the superhero film saw a marginal jump on Friday compared to Thursday (₹14.25 crore), showcasing its sheer dominance at the box office.
It raked in ₹15 crore yesterday and currently stands at a total collection of ₹349.75 crore. The movie has a strong chance to enter the elite ₹400 crore club by Monday, becoming the first Hollywood film to achieve this feat.
Among the new releases, Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi’s “DC” had a decent start, earning ₹4.10 crore on its opening day with an average occupancy of 24.8%. The original version contributed majorly to the collections with ₹2.60 crore, followed by Telugu and Hindi with ₹1.25 crore and ₹0.25 crore, respectively.

R. Madhavan-starrer “G.D.N” had a modest start with a collection of merely ₹0.53 crore. While the Tamil version contributed ₹0.46 crore, the Telugu one added another ₹0.07 crore.
“Thudakkam,” which marks the acting debut of Mohanlal’s daughter Vismaya Mohanlal, began on a fair note by collecting ₹2.40 crore on its opening day with an average occupancy of 42% across 1,102 shows.
“Ohh My Dog,” directed by Amit Rai of “OMG 2” fame, registered an acceptable footfall. It collected ₹0.85 crore on Friday with an average occupancy of 20% across the limited 844 shows. The Pankaj Tripathi and Pawan Malhotra-starrer is expected to grow over the weekend.
Varun Tej’s horror-comedy “Korean Kanakaraju” registered a good opening in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The film earned ₹3.95 crore on Friday and is looking at a ₹15 crore weekend in the domestic market.
