Shruti Haasan Picks Her All-Woman Rugby Dream Team – Dimple Kapadia, Disha Patani And Jacqueline Fernandes
Actor-singer Shruti Haasan brought a massive burst of glamour and rock-and-roll energy to Hyderabad for the second season of the Rugby Premier League. Delivering a powerhouse performance, she left the crowd captivated by singing the National Anthem, the official Rugby Premier League Anthem, and her fan-favorite hit track, “Sanchari”. Behind the scenes, the multi-talented artist sat down to share her thoughts on sports, her ultimate dream team, and the onset habit that might just land her in the penalty box.
When asked whether she would rather tackle a rugged rugby player or tackle a high-energy dance routine with a co-star, Shruti didn't hesitate. For her, the choice comes down to knowing her strengths: "I would definitely pick a high energy dance routine because I think that's kind of my skill set. I would be absolutely eliminated on the rugby team"
Even if she feels she might get crushed on the actual field, Shruti has a clear vision of who she wants in her corner. When asked to pick three co-stars for a rugby squad, she immediately pitched a powerhouse, all-female lineup: "Oh my God, can it be an all girls team? A girls rugby team? I would make Dimple (Kapadia) Ma’am the captain. I would pick Jacqueline, because she's super fit, and Disha Patani. I'll be like the one in the middle."
Rugby is a sport fueled by adrenaline, and Shruti has the perfect playlist to match a massive win. While she has a deep love for English rock tracks, she knows exactly how to get a stadium on its feet with her current lineup:
"I would love to perform something in English today, but I am performing Sanchaari and I think that will get people pretty hyped. And most importantly, I'm performing the Rugby Premier League anthem which is super fun."
In rugby, players are sent to the "sin bin" for a 10-minute timeout when they break the rules. When asked what behind-the-scenes habit might earn her a temporary banishment on a movie set, Shruti admitted to losing her cool—and raising her volume—every now and then. “You know, I like to be collaborative, creative and be like, things happen and all, but I really like lose it sometimes. And like, I have a very loud projection of voice. So I kind of yell sometimes. So I definitely deserve a time out for that."
