Revanta Sarabhai to Write and Direct Hindi Film for Emmay Entertainment (EXCLUSIVE)
Actor, dancer and choreographer Revanta Sarabhai is in final stages of writing for his first feature film, “Justice for Jayanti,” for Emmay Entertainment.
The son of renowned dancer and activist Mallika Sarabhai (leading lady of the Prakash Mehra presentation, “Himalay Se Ooncha” in 1975) and grandson of the iconic Indian physicist Vikram Sarabhai and dancer Mrinalini Sarabhai, is known as one of the few male Bharatanatyam soloists of his generation, who made his solo classical dance debut at the age of eight in 1992. He has performed nationally and internationally for over two decades.
In an exclusive, he tells Variety India, “My acquaintance with Emmay Entertainment — Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Nikkhil Advani — happened when they approached my family when they were making “Rocket Boys,” as they wanted materials and anecdotes about my grandfather and grandmother, as it was as much their story as that of Dr. Homi Bhabha. We came on board, and my mother and I choreographed for my grandmother’s dances in the series — my grandmother’s role was played by Regina Cassandra. I even appeared as a dancer in one of the dances in the second season.”
Revanta has acted in Gujarati films and hosted the Gujarati TV dance reality show “Naach Maari Saathe.” He has also been one of the writers and associate director on Emmay Entertainment’s “Freedom At Midnight” (2024), which has led to his maiden directorial assignment. “I will inform you of the details once we are fully ready!” he promises.
