Music composer, singer, producer and actor Himesh Reshammiya has started shooting for “Indian Idol” Season 17. The schedule starts today in Prime Focus Studio in Film City, Goregaon. Reshammiya has been a part of “Indian Idol” seasons 11, 12, and 13. Variety India learns he was extremely energetic and enthusiastic on sets as he greeted the team and new contestants. While his team hinted that he was back on “Indian Idol” as a judge, the official promo will be released by the channel in a day or two. Reshammiya is busy filming his introduction video today. However, the singer did belt out his iconic number, “Tera Surroor” from his 2006 album, “Aap Ka Surroor.”

Reshammiya is keen to take on the role of a mentor and guide for the contestants. The composer does not wish to be a stereotypical judge on the show. He stepped in for Anu Malik in “Indian Idol” Season 11 after the veteran music composer got embroiled in controversies. In 2021, Reshammiya gave a break to contestant Mohd Danish in his album, “Himesh Ke Dil Se,” where Danish sang a soulful heartbreak number. The winner and runner-up of “Indian Idol 12” Pawandeep Rajan and Arunita Kanjilal also bagged a song, “O Saiyyonii” in the same album. Reshammiya is loved by fans of “Indian Idol” for his whole-hearted support to the contestants.
Himesh Reshammiya’s upcoming movie “Yeh Prem Moh Liya” sees him team up with Sooraj Barjatya. It is coming to theaters on November 27. He is also composing for Emraan Hashmi’s “Gunmaaster G9,” which is also slated for a November release. "Indian Idol" Season 17 airs on Sony Entertainment Television.
