‘Baby Reindeer’’s Richard Gadd’s ‘Half Man’ Set For India Release On Lionsgate Play In July (EXCLUSIVE)
Richard Gadd’s highly anticipated follow-up to the global phenomenon “Baby Reindeer” is finally headed to India. Variety India has exclusively learned that Gadd’s acclaimed limited series “Half Man” will stream on Lionsgate Play in India this July. While the platform is currently considering July 3 as the premiere date, the launch schedule is not yet finalized and remains subject to change.
Created, written by and starring Gadd, “Half Man” marks the Scottish creator and performer’s first major television project after “Baby Reindeer.” The six-part drama stars Gadd alongside Jamie Bell and explores the complicated relationship between Ruben and Niall, two men who grew up like brothers despite not being related by blood.
The story begins at Niall’s (Jamie Bell) wedding, where Ruben’s (Richard Gadd) unexpected arrival triggers a shocking act of violence, sending the narrative back across three decades to examine the bond that shaped both their lives. Through their journey, “Half Man” tackles themes of masculinity, trauma, repression, violence and the emotional scars that can linger across generations.

The series was originally developed under the title “Lions” before being officially renamed “Half Man.” Commissioned by the BBC, with HBO joining as a co-production partner, the drama is directed by Alexandra Brodski and Eshref Reybrouck and also stars Stuart Campbell and Mitchell Robertson as the younger versions of the lead characters.
“Half Man” arrives following the mega impact of “Baby Reindeer,” which became a global sensation and earned widespread critical acclaim, including multiple Emmy Awards. Rather than revisiting the same territory, Gadd’s latest work expands his examination of damaged relationships and the complexities of human behavior.
The series received strong reviews upon its international debut, with critics praising Gadd and Bell’s performances as well as its unflinching approach to themes surrounding masculinity and emotional vulnerability.
With its arrival on Lionsgate Play, Indian audiences will get to watch one of 2026’s most talked-about international dramas. The final release date is expected to be announced shortly, with the series confirmed to premiere in India sometime in July.
