‘Baahubali: The Eternal War’ Selected At Annecy International Animation Festival ‘Work In Progress’ Lineup

S. S. Rajamouli’s “Baahubali” continues to expand its global footprint, with the upcoming animated film “Baahubali: The Eternal War” selected for the ‘Work in Progress’ showcase at the prestigious Annecy International Animation Festival.
Widely regarded as one of the biggest platforms in the animation industry, the festival has picked the project as a key representative of India’s evolving storytelling landscape. The selection places “Baahubali: The Eternal War” firmly on the global stage, giving international critics an early look at the film through an exclusive sneak peek.

Announcing the post on Instagram, Rajamouli wrote, “I have always believed animation offers a canvas with no boundaries. It is a rare honor for Indian mainstream cinema that ‘Baahubali: The Eternal War’ has been selected for the Work in Progress lineup at Annecy 2026.”
He added, “@Shobu_ garu, @_Ishan_Shukla and the whole team is elated to showcase the vision on the world’s most prestigious animation stage. Looking forward!”(sic)
Taking a distinct route from the live-action films, the animated spin-off is set after Amarendra Baahubali's death and explores his journey in the afterlife, where he is drawn into a large-scale war. The film expands the world across multiple realms, blending Indian influences with a high-concept narrative.
“Baahubali: The Eternal War” will see Prabhas and Ramya Krishnan return to voice their characters. Directed by Ishan Shukla, with music by M. M. Keeravani, the film is currently slated for a 2027 theatrical release.
