Not Rajinikanth, Mammootty or Mohanlal, This Actor Has The Maximum Releases In A Single Year
Akshay Kumar is considered one of the busiest actors in the entertainment industry today, averaging four to six releases per year. However, in earlier eras, in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, actors had the maximum releases as films were made and released more frequently.
Many people assume Mohanlal, Mammootty, and Rajinikanth top the list for most films during their peak years. However, Malayalam cinema’s definitive leading man of his generation, the late legendary actor Prem Nazir, achieved this record.

While Mammootty and Mohanlal had 36 and 34 releases in 1983 and 1986, respectively, Prem Nazir had an insane 39 releases in the year of 1979. These releases included films like “Irumbazhikal,” “Azhiyatha Bandhangal,” “Pichipoo,” “Manushyan,” “Kudumbam Namukku Sreekovil,” “Ente Neelakaasham,” “Ward No. 7,” “Pambaram,” “Tharangam,” “Prabhu,” “Vellayani Paramu,” “Love Marriage,” “Anubhavangalude Nimisham,” “Agniparvatham,” “Amrithachumbanam,” “Anupallavi,” “Avar Jeevikkunnu,” “Hridayathil Nee Mathram,” “Iniyum Kaanaam,” “Kaalam Kaathu Ninnilla,” “Kazhukan,” “Makara Vilakku,” “Mamidikkunnu,” “Manavadharmam,” “Nithya Vasantham,” “Pathivratha,” “Pushyaraagam,” “Raathrikal Ninakku Vendi,” “Sikharangal,” “Snehathinte Mukhangal” and “Uthrada Rathri.”
The list has almost every except for a few ones, as some of them are missing from consistent records.
Apart from this milestone, Prem Nazir also holds two Guinness World Records. The first one is for playing the lead role in a record 724 films and another one for playing opposite the same heroine in 130 films (with Sheela).
His last film was “Kadathanadan Ambadi,” which was his posthumous release. Directed by Priyadarshan and featured Mohanlal, Cochin Haneefa, Sathyan, Swapna and Raadhu.
