Allu Arjun, Vijay Deverakonda And Ram Charan In Talks As Producers Vie For Telugu Remake Rights of Gujarati Hit, ‘Laalo’ (EXCLUSIVE)
The Telugu remake of Gujarati blockbuster “Laalo: Krishna Sada Sahaayate” is being explored through multiple parallel production and casting conversations, with three to four production houses currently in discussions to partner with the original team, Variety India has learned.
Contrary to reports suggesting Vijay Deverakonda has replaced Ram Charan as Lord Krishna for the Telugu adaptation, the two actors are being considered on separate tracks being explored by different producers. No casting or production deal has been finalized yet.
Dil Raju is in preliminary discussions with Vijay Deverakonda to play Krishna, portrayed by Shruhad Goswami in the Gujarati original. Independently, producer Mahaveer Jain is pitching the project with Ram Charan being considered for Krishna and Allu Arjun for the role of the rickshaw driver at the centre of the story.

The original team is expected to choose its production partner within the next month, following which the Telugu cast and crew will be formally locked.
When contacted by Variety India, “Laalo” producer Jay Vyas confirmed that the film has attracted remake interest from multiple regional industries.
“‘Laalo’ has truly had a journey of its own, and seeing the kind of love it has received from audiences has been incredibly special for us. The film has gone from being a simple story we wanted to tell to becoming a talking point within the industry, which is something we are very grateful for,” Vyas said.
“There has been a lot of interest in remaking ‘Laalo’ across languages, and we’ve had conversations with makers from the Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi and Odia industries. We’re hopeful that we can find the right partners and take the film to more audiences across the country, while continuing to entertain and inspire people,” he added.
Directed by Ankit Sakhiya, “Laalo: Krishna Sada Sahaayate” was made on a reported budget of around ₹50 lakh and went on to cross ₹100 crore, becoming the highest-grossing Gujarati film. The spiritual drama follows a struggling rickshaw driver who becomes trapped inside a remote farmhouse and is forced to confront his guilt and past, while visions of Lord Krishna guide him towards redemption.
Despite receiving interest from the Hindi film industry, the makers have consciously chosen not to pursue a remake in the language, with the story’s deeply rooted regional texture being a key consideration. The team has instead received interest from other regional industries.
Meanwhile, Vyas confirmed that the “Laalo” team is already working on its next project, with details being kept under wraps.
