Ashutosh Gowariker To Produce His First Marathi Film, Directed By Rohan Mapuskar (EXCLUSIVE)
After producing mega Hindi films, Ashutosh Gowariker is now set to embrace his roots and produce his first Marathi film. Variety India has learnt that the “Lagaan” and “Swades” director is all set to collaborate with Rohan Mapuskar.
Gowariker and Rohan's brother Rajesh Mapuskar last collaborated in a director-actor capacity on the Marathi film “Ventilator” (2016), which was produced by Priyanka Chopra Jonas under her production banner Purple Pebbles Pictures. The film featured the ‘Jodhaa Akbar” in a pivotal role and was written and directed by Mapuskar.

Upon release, “Ventilator” received widespread critical acclaim and went on to win three honors at the 64th National Film Awards, including Best Direction, Best Editing and Best Sound Mixing.
With this new project, Gowariker steps in as producer, Rohan Mapuskar will take charge of directing the yet untitled Marathi feature.
Mapuskar is widely known being a casting director. As a casting director he has several films like "Thackeray", "Vaalvi", “Ferrari Ki Sawaari,” to his credit. As a director the Mapuskar has directed "April May 99" as his debut film.
More details about the upcoming Marathi film, including its cast and storyline, are expected to be revealed soon.
