‘The Royals’ Season 2 First Look: Ishaan Khatter, Zeenat Aman And Sakshi Tanwar Return As Series Begins Filming

Netflix’s “The Royals” has begun filming its second season, with Ishaan Khatter, Zeenat Aman, Sakshi Tanwar, Vihaan Samat and Kavya Trehan set to reprise their roles. The streamer announced the production update on November 3, confirming the return of the principal cast alongside directors Nitya Mehra and Tanuj Chopra.

The upcoming season will expand the fictional world of Morpur, introducing new kingdoms and characters while exploring fresh alliances, rivalries and romantic relationships. Netflix has not yet disclosed details of the new additions to the cast or announced a premiere date.

Created by Rangita Pritish Nandy and Ishita Pritish Nandy, “The Royals” follows a royal family negotiating its place in contemporary India. The first season revolved around Prince Aviraaj Singh (Khatter) and entrepreneur Sophia Kanmani Shekhar (Bhumi Pednekar), whose business proposition to convert the family’s ancestral palace into a luxury resort brought their contrasting worlds together. The ensemble also featured Nora Fatehi, Dino Morea, Milind Soman, Chunky Panday and Udit Arora.

According to Netflix, the first season featured in the platform’s Global Top 10 Non-English TV Shows across 58 countries, reached third place on the weekly global ranking and topped the chart in seven countries, including India. The streamer described it as the first Indian series to achieve the 58-country milestone.

In a statement, creators Rangita and Ishita Pritish Nandy said the new season would take the story forward with its returning characters while expanding the relationships and family conflicts at the centre of the show. Tanya Bami, Series Head, Netflix India, said the second season would widen the story’s canvas through new characters, relationships and rivalries.

“The Royals” Season 2 is currently in production and will stream on Netflix.
