Alpha Teaser Review: Alia Bhatt Packs A Punch, But Can She Deliver the Ultimate Knockout?

After Tiger, Kabir, and Pathaan, it’s time for the women to step into the espionage game. Yash Raj Films has finally given audiences the first glimpse of its highly anticipated girl-power thriller, “Alpha,” and it is safe to say the spy universe is getting a serious adrenaline shot.

The teaser kicks off on what appears to be a milestone celebration: Sita’s (Alia Bhatt) 18th birthday. Sitting in a restaurant with her father (Bobby Deol), the celebratory mood quickly evaporates when he tasks her with a high-stakes mission on the hotel’s 34th floor. 

From there, the audience gets the first real look at ‘Alpha’ — a top-secret, classified program engineered to forge India’s next generation of elite shadow operatives. The footage highlights the brutal reality of this program, showing recruits being pushed past their physical and psychological breaking points to prepare them for deadly global assignments.

The teaser quickly shifts gears into overdrive, plunging viewers headfirst into a world of high-octane espionage. Alia Bhatt is front and center, anchoring a series of intense action sequences. Sita takes on waves of adversaries simultaneously, holding her own in fierce hand-to-hand combat and navigating lethal situations with remarkable ease.

The footage also hints at the deep-rooted history behind her skills. Flashbacks reveal that Sita’s training began in her childhood, with Deol’s character fiercely mentoring her for a life in the shadows. It effectively charts her evolution from a young trainee into a lethal, battle-ready operative. Among the standout, pulse-pounding moments are glimpses of Bhatt tearing through streets on a motorcycle and executing brutal, close-quarters combat moves.

While the teaser certainly sets a thrilling tone, it leaves us with two major talking points. First and foremost, can Alia pull off the ultimate action-star transformation? Watching Bhatt ride bikes and throw kicks is exciting, but the real test will be when the actual film drops. For “Alpha” to truly land a devastating blow, the action needs to feel grounded, gritty, and completely believable. Will she be able to sell the raw, physical power required of a seasoned YRF spy? Let’s hope so.

The second major question mark is the complete absence of Sharvari. Despite being billed in a key role alongside Bhatt, she is MIA in this initial footage. Her absence is deeply felt, leading one to believe that the makers are saving her big reveal for when the official trailer drops.

The teaser successfully sets the stage for a gritty new chapter. It promises a fiercer, darker tone, but the pressure is now on the full trailer to show more of the plot and, hopefully, give a glimpse of the Alia-Sharvari dynamic.
