‘Ebenezer’ Trailer Review: Johnny Depp Makes His Hollywood Comeback As Scrooge In Dark Christmas Tale
Johnny Depp returns to commercial Hollywood cinema with “Ebenezer,” following his high-profile defamation trial. Adapted from Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol,” the fantasy film has unveiled its trailer as the makers begin their promotional campaign.
In the trailer, Depp plays Ebenezer Scrooge, a wealthy but bitter businessman who values money above everything else. His obsession with wealth has also distanced him from his family, leaving him with little emotional connection to those around him.
On Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his deceased business partner, Jacob Marley (Ian McKellen), who warns him that three spirits will visit him and urges him to change his ways. Scrooge subsequently encounters the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, forcing him to confront his life, choices and the consequences of his actions.
