‘Verity’ trailer: Anne Hathaway And Dakota Johnson Descend Into A Chilling Psychological Mind Game
Prepare for goosebumps because the trailer for "Verity" promises an unsettling ride filled with mind games, secrets and pure psychological horror. Adapted from Colleen Hoover’s sensationally dark novel and directed by Michael Showalter, this upcoming Amazon MGM Studios thriller brings a deeply eerie atmosphere to the big screen.
The story follows Lowen Ashleigh, played by Dakota Johnson, a struggling writer who gets hired to finish the final book in a massive hit series. The author behind the phenomenon is Verity Crawford, portrayed by a mesmerizing Anne Hathaway. Following a devastating accident, Verity lies completely nonverbal and unable to move, leaving her husband Jeremy, played by Josh Hartnett, to recruit Lowen. Yet the creepy hum of Verity’s mechanical wheelchair sets a spine-tingling tone right from the start, prompting Lowen to ask the obvious question, “Why can’t your wife finish her book series?” Jeremy insists that “doctors don’t think she’ll ever walk or talk again” and claims Verity handpicked Lowen as the only voice capable of completing the story, despite Lowen worrying that “Her fans know her voice. They would know it’s not her.”

Desperate for cash, Lowen moves into the remote Crawford estate, but the spooky mansion quickly turns into a living nightmare. As she uncovers hidden files on a drive tagged with the initials V.C., she stumbles upon a sinister document labeled “Autobiography” and hears Verity’s lingering narration: “This is my confession, my autobiography. Intercutting between a glamorous red dress look and a darker setting, Hathaway looks like she is having absolute wicked fun playing this haunting figure. Delivering a spine-chilling final word, Verity issues a grim declaration: “This is your final warning, only darkness ahead.”
Set to hit Indian theaters on October 2, 2026, "Verity" looks like a deliciously creepy thriller that will keep audiences gasping until the very last frame.
