SS Rajamouli knows a thing or two about creating cinematic spectacles. The filmmaker, who gave Indian cinema the two-part blockbuster franchise “Baahubali”, understands what it takes to mount a larger-than-life story, build anticipation around it and deliver a spectacle that lives up to the hype. So, when a filmmaker of his stature has something to say about another ambitious cinematic undertaking, it is worth paying attention.

With “Ramayana”, one of the most anticipated films of the year, finally making its way to the big screen, Rajamouli has shared his appreciation for the film and its team. Taking to X, the director praised the sheer scale of the film and its visuals, describing the big-screen experience as spectacular to watch.

He also had words of appreciation for the principal cast. Calling Ranbir Kapoor's portrayal of Rama, particularly from the Vanavasam portions onwards, "serene yet magnificent", Rajamouli acknowledged the actor's ability to bring a sense of calm and grandeur to the character. He described Yash's Ravana as menacing, while applauding Sai Pallavi's graceful portrayal of Sita.

The filmmaker was particularly impressed by the film's final stretch, adding that he "loved every bit" of the pre-climax and climax. His praise extended to producer Namit Malhotra, director Nitesh Tiwari and the entire team behind the ambitious project. Congratulating them, Rajamouli acknowledged their effort in bringing such a grand vision to the screen.

Coming from the filmmaker behind “Baahubali”, a franchise that helped redefine the scale of mainstream Indian theatrical cinema, the appreciation is a significant endorsement for “Ramayana”. Rajamouli's own experience in mounting epic stories makes his observations on the film's visual ambition and big-screen spectacle particularly noteworthy.
