The ‘Mirzapur’ Movie Teaser Review: The Bhaukaal Just Got Bigger, Bloodier And Big-Screen Bound!

The bhaukaal is officially back, and this time, the rule of Tripathi and Pandit isn't confined to your mobile screens. It’s breaking out into the theatres, and if the first teaser of “Mirzapur: The Movie: is any indication, the scale is massive, the blood is redder and the power play is absolutely intoxicating. Slated for a grand theatrical release on September 4, 2026, this cinematic expansion shifts gears from OTT to a massive big-screen spectacle, taking us from the familiar, dusty ghats of Purvanchal all the way to the sweeping deserts of Rajasthan.

The teaser opens with an eerie, commanding sense of familiarity. We see the undisputed king, Akhanda Tripathi aka Kaleen Bhaiyya (Pankaj Tripathi), standing at the ghats, offering prayers. His voice, calm yet dripping with underlying menace, sets the tone: “A capable son is difficult to find, sometimes impossible.” It’s a classic Mirzapur line that immediately sends chills down your spine.

In a twist that will excite the fandom, Munna Tripathi (Divyenndu) swaggeringly strides back into action, looking as unhinged and menacing as ever. But the resurrections don't stop there. In a brilliantly nostalgic twist, Jitendra Kumar steps into the shoes of the beloved Bablu Pandit (originally played by Vikrant Massey), promising a whole new dynamic to the revenge saga.

The teaser moves at a relentless pace, reintroducing the faces that have defined our binge-watching calendars since 2018. We catch glimpses of a calculating Beena Tripathi (Rasika Dugal), the formidable Bauji (Kulbhushan Kharbanda), and an intensely fierce Gajgamini ‘Golu’ Gupta (Shweta Tripathi). Alongside her is Sweety Gupta (Shriya Pilgaonkar), Guddu’s ill-fated wife, hinting that this movie dives deep into an epic, untold timeline that connects straight to the roots of Season 1.

The heart of the confrontation, however, lies in the brewing storm between fathers and sons. Ali Fazal's Guddu Pandit, roaring with ambition, tells his father (Rajesh Tailang) that every gangster who dreamed big rose from the bottom straight to the top. His father’s deadpan, chilling reply? “They went to the top... in this case, heaven.” Just when you think the tension is at its peak, the teaser drops its trump cards. Enter Ravi Kishan in a fantastic, scene-stealing avatar, quite literally adding salt to wounds in the most brutal, physical sense. His role remains shrouded in mystery, but his screen presence is electric. And the absolute highlight? A brilliant spin on a tired Bollywood trope. When confronted, instead of the classic “Jaante hai mera baap kaun hai?” (Do you know who my father is?), the iconic Sheeba Chadha delivers a spectacular, badass curveball: “Do you know whose mother I am?”  The look of utter surprise on Ravi Kishan’s face is worth the price of admission alone.

The countdown to September 4 has begun, and the king of Purvanchal is ready for a big bang at the box office.
