Anant Joshi on ‘Eetha’ Co-Star Shraddha Kapoor: ‘She Has Faced Uncomfortable Conditions Without Complaining’ (EXCLUSIVE)

As anticipation builds around “Eetha,” actor Anant Joshi opens up about sharing screen space with Shraddha Kapoor. The actress plays the role of Maharashtrian folk artist Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar in the movie directed by Laxman Utekar. The film also features acclaimed actors like Nana Patekar and Randeep Hooda.

In an exclusive conversation with Variety India, Anant praises Shraddha not only for her acting prowess but also for her professionalism, humility and the supportive environment she creates on set. Anant says, "‘Eetha’ is a Shraddha Kapoor film through and through. There are other actors, like Nana Patekar, Randeep Hooda and me, but we are a part of her character’s lifelong journey. As for my character, I don’t want to reveal anything, but this is very different from what I have done before."

But what made the filming an exciting experience for him? “I had a chance to closely work with Shraddha in some of the scenes. She is phenomenal. She is also a great person. It is so important to work with actors who consider filmmaking as a part of their job as well. She is one of them. She does not perform in isolation. She knows that her job is not only performing. However, it is quite amazing to see her perform. She is a huge star with a great following. Despite that, she is someone who would not mind hardships.”

Anant shares about Shraddha’s zeal to get her character absolutely right. He adds, “She has also gone through major transformations for the film. She has faced uncomfortable situations and conditions while shooting, but I have never seen her complain. She has a very likable personality as well. So everyone loves her presence on and off-screen. I was hesitant at first because I come from a different background, but she makes sure everyone around her is comfortable. She did the same for me."

While he remains tight-lipped about their personal conversations during filming, he reveals that her genuine nature left a lasting impression on him. He adds, “She really knows herself and where she is right now. She knows where to set boundaries. But at the same time, she never loses that warmth about her. I would wait for her to lead any conversation. The whole film lies on her shoulders. So you also want to give an actor that space. I also noticed that she is an on-and-off actor. As soon as there is a ‘cut,’ she is a different person. She is back to being caring and warm.” “Eetha” releases on August 28, 2026.
