After enjoying a phenomenal extended opening weekend, Tom Holland’s “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” remained strong on its first Monday. The superhero flick collected ₹23.80 crore yesterday and now stands at a total of 281.75 crore. However, it failed to beat “Avengers: Endgame” (₹31.05 crore) to become the biggest first Monday grosser in India.
While the film is on course to enter the ₹300 crore club today, it will end its first week around ₹330 crore. Interestingly, the Hindi-dubbed version has contributed significantly with ₹101.26 crore across 38,513 shows with an average occupancy of 90.4%. On the other hand, the original version (English) contributed ₹155.65 crore with 50.3% occupancy.

With no big competition at the ticket windows, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has the potential to become the biggest Hollywood grosser in India, surpassing “Avatar: The Way of Water” (₹391.40 crore) and “Avengers: Endgame” (₹370.05 crore). In fact, it can become the first Hollywood film in India to enter the elite ₹400 crore club. Interestingly, the webhead film is already the third-highest grosser in the country in just five days behind Ranveer Singh’s “Dhurandhar 2” (₹1149.30 crore) and Sunny Deol’s “Border 2” (₹329.43 crore).
As the Spidey film might enjoy the milestone of being the biggest Hollywood blockbuster in India, its crown is expected to be taken by “Avengers: Doomsday,” which is releasing on December 18.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film also features Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando and Mark Ruffalo in pivotal roles. It is produced under the banners of Columbia Pictures, Marvel Studios and Pascal Pictures.
