Prateek Kuhad Drops Second Single ‘If I Cannot Be Yours’ from New Album ‘Full Moon Chamber’ (EXCLUSIVE)
Singer-songwriter Prateek Kuhad has released “If I Cannot Be Yours,” the new single from his upcoming album “Full Moon Chamber,” offering another glimpse into what he describes as one of his most introspective projects to date.
The second track from the album arrives ahead of the July 10 release of “Full Moon Chamber,” Kuhad’s third studio album and his first full-length project since 2022’s "The Way That Lovers Do." Accompanied by an official music video, “If I Cannot Be Yours” follows last month’s lead single “Blush” and continues the emotional and thematic journey that sits at the center of the new record.
Built around breathy vocals, synth textures, electric guitar and a driving rhythm section, the song circles around a lingering question: “If I cannot be yours, darling, who should I be?” The track examines the uncertainty that follows when a relationship becomes deeply intertwined with one’s sense of identity.

Speaking exclusively to Variety India about the song, Prateek Kuhad says, “Sitting at the center of loss of identity and self rediscovery, ‘If I Cannot Be Yours’ explores the unsettling space between wanting to leave a relationship and fearing the reality of who you might become without it. It is about reaching a point where so much of your sense of self is tied to another person, that letting go forces you to confront who you are on your own.”
Written and recorded between New York and Los Angeles, “Full Moon Chamber” includes 14 tracks and explores themes of love, belonging, identity and emotional transformation. At its core, the album traces a journey from inner turbulence toward balance, self-reflection and acceptance.
The project was developed with Los Angeles-based producers Nick Ruth and Mike Irish. Ruth, whose previous collaborators include Kelly Clarkson, Bakar and Lauren Spencer Smith, helped shape the sonic direction of the album, bringing together recordings made across multiple cities into a cohesive body of work.
“Full Moon Chamber” will be released through Atlantic Records and marks Prateek Kuhad’s latest chapter following more than a decade of establishing himself as one of India’s most globally recognized singer-songwriters.
With “If I Cannot Be Yours,” Kuhad continues to lean into vulnerability and self-examination, setting the stage for an album that appears focused less on easy answers and more on the complicated process of understanding who we become when love and the identity built around it begins to shift.
