‘Obsession’: Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon to Voice Hindi Version of Horror Hit
Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon are lending their voices to the Hindi version of “Obsession”, Curry Barker’s horror film that is set to make its Indian streaming debut on October 30. The film will be available on JioHotstar’s Peacock Hub in both English and Hindi, with the platform also making the original uncut version available to Indian viewers.
The Hindi adaptation will feature Dhawan as Bear, played by Michael Johnston in the original, and Sanon as Nikki, played by Inde Navarrette. The collaboration brings the two Hindi film stars into a story that begins with a familiar romantic fantasy but gradually descends into horror.
“Obsession” follows Bear, a young man who wishes for his longtime crush, Nikki, to love him more than anything in the world. After he breaks a mysterious object known as the One Wish Willow, his wish appears to come true. But the affection he receives soon takes a disturbing turn, transforming his desire for love into a nightmare.

For Sanon, the project marks her first experience lending her voice to another actor’s on-screen performance. She said the film’s unusual premise and the opportunity to explore a darker character made the process particularly appealing.
“I absolutely loved the film and the performances in ‘Obsession’. It’s such a gripping, quirky and twisted story. I’ve never explored a character this edgy before, which made the experience even more exciting and challenging. This is also the first time I’ve lent my voice to another actor’s performance, and I couldn’t have asked for a more exciting film to make that debut with! I had a lot of fun voicing for it, and I can’t wait for audiences to experience the film in Hindi,” Sanon said.
Dhawan said working on the Hindi version gave him a closer look at the film’s performances and details. “Working on the Hindi version of ‘Obsession’ gave me an opportunity to experience the story from a completely different perspective. In fact, I found myself enjoying the film even more because I could look at it so closely. I noticed so many little details that I may have missed on a first watch, and that made the whole experience even more interesting. I’m excited for audiences to experience ‘Obsession’ in Hindi and discover those details for themselves,” he said.
