‘Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa’ Winner Shreya Kalra Slams Lack Of Effort From Big TV Stars; ‘They Were There For A Vacation, Picnic and Weekly Paycheck’ (Exclusive)
Content creator and actress Shreya Kalra is the winner of “Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa.” Her victory is remarkable given that this season had some truly popular Indian TV stars like Shivangi Joshi, Dheeraj Dhoopar, Harshad Chopda and Ram Kapoor. She accepts that she was scared to enter the show. “I was scared as I felt they would be given more priority (footage) and I would get overshadowed. Even if you have a sizable body of work, you feel worried before coming on a show like this. And you want to be good because the whole world is going to see your personality and how you really are in your life,” she shares.
Kalra further states that she felt some extra pressure as she had fared quite badly in her former reality TV show. She did “Roadies 18,” in 2020 where she was a wild card. Kalra says, “I left that show in three to four episodes. I was very disappointed with my journey. I just wanted to prove it to everyone that I actually deserve this opportunity and I just want to be good at this.”

Kalra minces no words when she speaks about how she found the hunger missing in her co-contestants. She elaborates, “I mean, they didn’t do anything.” On hearing that this was also the sentiment on social media, she further adds, “Yes. So, when I said that I am going to win the show, I saw that people were not keen to take home the trophy. They got mentally stressed out over not getting food. And I was only bothered about my winning. And sometimes, it felt like they were there just for a vacation, or a picnic and they wanted to get the per week pay cheque. That’s it.”
She strongly stresses that Chopda giving away his spot did not help her cause. “My game was better right from the outset. Inside, it felt like there were 14-15 people who were friends but trying not to be friends. I admit I did not make friends in ‘Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa,’ but that is immaterial. Outside, I have a lot of people supporting me knowing my true personality. It was my game, and I played it. I think this is why I won the show,” she explains.
On the premiere night, Kalra called out Ram Kapoor for his objectionable jokes on women. It seems like she had seen many reality shows in the past. Kalra admits that she too was nervous about bringing up that topic around Kapoor.
She tells Variety India, "Of course, as an outsider, who just started a career, saying these things to someone who has done so much in his life could lead to a lot of backlash.”
She adds that she got very triggered as a woman, saying, “Why would you say something like that when you have so many people watching you, who are praising you for your appearances and performances.” Kalra opened up on the show about how she was molested by her cousin. She opines that she just hoped that Kapoor would be more accountable for his words and actions and apologize for the same.
