Actor Karan Tacker looks back at his non-speaking cameo as a background actor in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi,” recalling his experience of working with Yash Raj Films and being directed by Aditya Chopra. The film, which was released on December 12, 2008, marks one of Tacker’s early experiences in the film industry.
Tacker says the cameo happened when he was looking for work as a young actor. “I had a cameo in “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.” It is not the best benchmark to map my film career. It was 18-and-a-half years ago. There was very limited work, so I tested for whatever came my way,” he says.

Tacker recalls the audition and being excited about the opportunity. “I tested for Shanoo Sharma (casting director). I was enthusiastic because it was for Yash Raj Films. Anything with them is always great. Moreover, it was a film with Shah Rukh Khan. I had to do it,” he adds.
For Tacker, simply being on the Yash Raj Films premises was a memorable experience. He remembers walking through the production house’s corridors and seeing a placard bearing Shah Rukh Khan’s name on his first day. He also has photographs from his time in the makeup room and the corridors. “I remember being directed by Aditya Chopra, too. It was a dream come true for me,” he quips.

However, Tacker’s first meeting with Khan did not take place during the filming of “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.” He recalls meeting the superstar later in his career, when the two also shared the stage. “I was hosting an award show, when I met him on the stage. I did a little piece with him. I was awestruck and it was a great experience working with him like that,” the actor reveals.
