Ram Charan’s “RC17” is gearing up for an official announcement later today. Variety India has exclusively learnt that his father Chiranjeevi will be giving the official clap (the ceremonial first snap of the clapperboard) for the film. Additionally, music director Anirudh Ravichander has officially come on board to score the film. Interestingly this is the first time that Telugu director Sukumar and Ram Charan are working together with Anirudh.

Anirudh was previously meant to work on Ram Charan’s 2015 film, “Bruce Lee: The Fighter,” directed by Sreenu Vaitla. However, due to scheduling conflicts, he had to leave the movie. Sukumar has traditionally worked only with music director Devi Sri Prasad, and this marks his first film with Anirudh.

Ram Charan and Sukumar have previously worked together in the 2018 blockbuster film, “Rangasthalam,” which earned ₹131.20 crore. This is their second collaboration together.

Interestingly, Chiranjeevi has previously given ‘clap’ for three of Ram Charan’s films. They include “RRR” in 2022 and “Game Changer” in 2025 and for “Peddi” in 2026. While S Rajamouli’s “RRR” became an iconic gamechanger in the industry, with domestic collections of  ₹782.2 crore, the S Shankar-directed film, “Game Changer” earned ₹131.20 crore. Meanwhile, “Peddi,”  directed by Buchi Babu Sana, earned ₹244.64 crore.
