‘Bou Buttu Bhuta’ Actor Babushaan Mohanty and Ashutosh Rana Gear Up For A New-Age Mytho Drama (EXCLUSIVE)
After the success of his 2025 film “Bou Buttu Bhuta,” Odia actor Babushaan Mohanty is gearing up for his next movie, a modern action-drama with its heart in Indian mythology. The production house has roped in filmmaker Chinmay Das to helm the project. An official announcement will be made on July 16. Variety India has learned that Ashutosh Rana will play the main antagonist in the project.

Mohanty’s new movie is based on the tale of Lord Krishna’s Narayani Sena mentioned in the Mahabharata. The huge army of Lord Krishna fought for the Kauravas in the war. It is believed that the invincible army had one million elite soldiers. The film’s story is rooted in the divine beliefs of that state, in which a warrior is transported to a different era. Further details about the yet-untitled film are expected to be announced soon. Chinmay Das is best known for directing the 2024 Odia movie “Parab,” which was a social drama. He has also made a few short films in the past.
Babushaan Mohanty is the son of veteran Odia actors Uttam and Aparajita Mohanty. In 2025, Mohanty’s horror thriller, “Bou Buttu Bhuta,” made headlines for being widely appreciated by audiences, making it a massive success. The film, directed by Jagdish Mishra, which was made on a budget of Rs 2 crore, amassed close to Rs 15 crores (nett) from its domestic and overseas collections as per Sacnilk. With a profit ratio exceeding 400 percent, it is considered one of the most successful regional films of 2025.
