TRP Report: ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2’ Tops the Charts, Vasudha in Second Spot as IPL Fever Crashes TV Ratings Overall
With IPL garnering a giant share of eyeballs, TV show ratings have seen a dip across channels. Smriti Irani-Amar Upadhyay’s “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2” maintains its position at the top. The upcoming drama focuses on Nandini (Gauri Pradhan), Karan (Hiten Tejwani) and Rio (Akashdeep Saigal). We will see how Nandini and Karan’s dynamics change after Rio’s arrival. For the second place, there is a tie between “Vasudha” and “Ganga Maa Ki Betiyaan.”
Both these shows have small-town settings, and their storylines resonate with the heartland of India. In “Vasudha,” Priyal Thakur plays the lead role of a young woman who struggles to find acceptance in a social setting that is above her financial station. “Ganga Maa Ki Betiyaan” is about a woman in Varanasi who single-handedly raises her daughters after she has been abandoned for failing to produce sons. It stars Amandeep Sidhu, Shubhangi Latkar, Srishti Jain and Sheezan Khan in lead roles.
“Anupamaa” manages to retain its place in the top five along with “Tumm Se Tumm Tak.” Rupali Ganguly’s drama is headed for more family drama as the track explores the growing bond between Anupamaa and Digvijay Sood, played by Sachin Tyagi. Viewers are also glued to the drama of “Tumm Se Tumm Tak,” where Anu (Niharika Chouksey) finds out about Arya’s (Sharad Kelkar) past through Jalandhar (Sai Ballal). This has left viewers curious about their future. Rajan Shahi’s “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai” plummets from 1.8 to 1.5, a drop considered significant in the world of ratings.
