Shah Rukh Khan Confirms Arijit Singh is Lending ‘Finishing Touches’ to First Song From ‘King’

Hindi cinema superstar Shah Rukh Khan held an ask-me-anything session on X earlier today called #AskSRK, fielding questions about his upcoming film, "King." When one fan asked him to release at least one song from the eagerly awaited album, he let it slip that the first track to be released would be sung by Arijit Singh, called him a perfectionist and that he takes his time and therefore, he was “rightfully” waiting for him to lend “finishing touches,” before he releases the first track.

While Sachin-Jigar are on board as the composers for the film, the background music will be scored by Anirudh Ravichander.

While Singh has several hits to his name with Sachin-Jigar, here are a few of his biggest with the duo: "Phir Aur Kya Chahiye"("Zara Hatke Zara Bachke"), "Apna Bana Le" from "Bhediya" and "Tainu Khabar Nahi" from "Munjya" which stars Abhay Varma, who also features in King.

Arijit and Anirudh have only worked on two tracks, both SRK projects: the first is "Challeya" from "Jawan" and the other is "Badli Si Hawa Hai" from the series "The Ba****ds of Bollywood."

While Khan confirmed that the film's release date (Dec. 24, 2026) would remain unchanged despite coming up in the aftermath of Hollywood tentpoles "Dune: Part Three" and "Avengers: Doomsday" (both films release Dec. 18).

He called his film's Christmas Eve clash with Nagarjuna’s “King100” and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s “Dada” a sandwich with him at the "juicy centre."

“King,” starring Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Rani Mukerji, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi and Raghav Juyal, releases in theaters on December 24.

Additionally, Ed Sheeran might have a collaboration with Arijit Singh on "King." He told podcaster Zane Lowe as much when asked about his interaction with Arijit, during their interview ahead of the release of "Play." He shared, "I went to his show first and we sung 'Perfect' together. But I'd heard we were going to sing a duet of a song for a Bollywood movie. So, I'd heard a bunch of his stuff beforehand and then, we met."

Ed further noted that Indian fans told him about the similarities between him and Singh. He opines "Arijit is their version of me in the UK in terms of love songs, singer-songwriter, vocals, blah blah blah. So I think the meeting of the worlds was kind of almost inevitable.
