Rajinikanth vs Dhanush vs Suriya Clash Averted, ‘OM’ Vacates Diwali Release Date
While festive dates are prized across film industries, two to three big films clashing on the same date can do more harm than good. Fans of Rajinikanth, Suriya and Dhanush were waiting for their respective movies in October and November. In a post on social media, Dhanush has confirmed that his action drama, “OM Chapter 1: Udhiram - The Blood Wood” has been indefinitely postponed. It was slated to release in theaters on Oct. 16. Rajinikanth’s marquee film, “Jailer 2” is coming to cinemas a day before. One of the biggest movies of the year, “Jailer 2” is a sequel to the 2023 blockbuster.

In a note on social media, Dhanush said that Rajinikanth is an actor all of them grew up worshipping and admiring. He said that out of respect for the legend, they will not be releasing “OM Chapter 1: Udhiram - The Blood Wood” a day after Rajinikanth and Nelson Dilipkumar’s movie.

He also confirmed that they are not looking at a Diwali release clashing with Suriya’s “Scene,” which is directed by Jithu Madhavan. He has been on a golden run in 2026 delivering two ₹200 crore plus blockbusters, “Karuppu” and “Vishwanath And Sons.” The release date of “Scene” is Nov. 6.

His decision has got a good response from fans who feel it was taken keeping in mind the best interest of the Tamil film industry. “OM” also stars Malayalam superstar Mammooty as Burma Karthikeyan/Siya along with Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela.
“Jailer 2” has a huge cast that includes Vidya Balan as Kantha, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Hrithik Roshan, Ramya Krishnan, Shiva Rajkumar, Yogi Babu and others. Rajinikanth returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian.
