Kamal Haasan Reveals Title of S U Arun Kumar’s Next Film as ‘Sandiyar’, Anirudh Ravichander to Compose Music

Kamal Haasan has unveiled the title of his upcoming film with director S U Arun Kumar as “Sandiyar”. The actor shared the first title poster on Friday, November 6, revealing a rugged new look for the project, which was previously referred to as KH 237.

The poster features Haasan seated inside a vehicle, with a firearm in the foreground and what appears to be blood smeared across the vehicle’s exterior. The visual is accompanied by the film’s title in a distressed, stylised font.

The film marks Haasan’s first collaboration with Arun Kumar, who has directed films including “Pannaiyarum Padminiyum”, “Sethupathi”, “Chithha” and “Veera Dheera Sooran”. The filmmaker is known for character-driven stories that often explore morally complex situations. While the makers have not disclosed the film’s plot or announced its wider cast, the first-look material points towards a gritty action drama.

Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music, while action choreography is being handled by the duo Anbariv. Sunil KS is the cinematographer, with C S Balachander serving as production designer and Amritha Ram as costume designer. The film is produced by Kamal Haasan and R Mahendran, with S Disney credited as co-producer.

The title “Sandiyar” also carries a history in Haasan’s filmography. His 2004 directorial “Virumaandi” was originally announced under the same title in 2003, but was renamed following protests over the word and its perceived caste associations. The new project marks a separate film and a fresh collaboration with Arun Kumar.

Further details about the film’s cast, storyline, shooting schedule and release date are yet to be announced.
