‘Ohh My Dog’ Stalls Release Due to ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day,’ ‘The Odyssey’ and ‘Dhamaal 4’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Filmmaker Amit Rai’s film “Ohh My Dog” was all set to hit the screens on July 31. However, with theatres already packed with major releases, the filmmaker has decided to postpone the film by a week. The film will now release on August 7. Rai says that the decision to postpone “Ohh My Dog” was "a very practical one," driven by intense competition for screens rather than any concerns about the film itself.

He explains that theaters are already occupied by major releases like “The Odyssey” and “Dhamaal 4,” while “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is expected to "create history" with an opening of "around ₹50 crore," leaving little room for other films.

Since “Ohh My Dog” is a family entertainer, Rai feels that its audience overlaps with those films. "Even after making such a good film, the reason it won't get the release it deserves is simply because we won't have the space to occupy screens," says the director. He adds that without enough screens, the film's marketing and release strategy would not be able to unfold as planned. "It has all the potential, but it just won't have the space."

Rai, who had earlier directed “OMG 2,” further shares that the team decided to "step aside briefly," delay the release by a week, and return when audiences had already watched the other releases. "By then, there will be a little space, and we will be able to grow. That is the reason behind shifting the release," he says.

“Ohh My Dog” stars Pankaj Tripathi, Pawan Malhotra, Maahi Rai, Rajesh Kumar and Geeta Agrawal Sharma, alongside canine actors Oscar and Bruno. Featuring over 250 dogs, the film celebrates the heartwarming bond between a young child and his canine companion.
