“Money Heist” is set to return with an expansion of the series universe, Netflix announced Saturday. It also issued a teaser.
Along with that came a statement which suggests what Netflix is aiming at is not just one more season of some kind but multiple spin-offs expanding the universe of “Money Heist,” “La Casa de Papel” in Spanish.
“Some stories start with the perfect strike. And this one changed everything,” the Netflix statement runs.
“From the first heist for cash to the most artful robbery of the century, including the assault that put tons of gold from the Bank of Spain on the line, the universe of ‘Money Heist’ has never stopped growing, evolving, and surprising us,” it continued.
“But if there’s one thing that’s clear, it’s that the revolution NEVER ends. From now on, this is mission control for everything in the ‘Money Heist’ universe. If you want in on the next plan and don’t want to miss a single move from the gang, this is the place to be.
The world of ‘Money Heist’ continues on Netflix.”
Here’s the 50-second official annoucement teaser:
The teaser has left fans doubting if the new season or seasons will be character spin-offs or a “Money Heist” Season 6, or both. The teaser’s last scene, where hands unearth a gold bar, has particularly drawn fandom attention. Spanish newspaper El País announced last month that Vancouver, the production label of “Money Heist” creator Alex Pina, is shooting a four-episode miniseries turning on Colonel Tamayo, played by Fernando Cayo.
The “Money Heist” return was announced by Alvaro Morte, who played the Professor in the original series, at Saturday’s Seville world premiere of ‘Berlin’ Season 2, which will be released on Netflix on May 15.
