Mitakshara Kumar Takes Over Directorial Reins Of ‘The Royals 2’ From Jasmeet Reen (EXCLUSIVE)

Ishaan Khatter-starrer "The Royals" Season 2, backed by Netflix and Rangita Nandy, has undergone a major directorial change, with Jasmeet K Reen exiting the project after just three days on location.

“Netflix hired Jasmeet after their genial collaboration over Darlings but this time around the collaboration was not smooth.  There were  scripting and execution issues,” reveals  a source.

"The Royals 2" unit has lost no time in hiring another director. Mitakshara Kumar who has assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali in "Bajirao Mastaani", "Padmaavat", "Gangubai Kathiawadi" and directed a few episodes of Bhansali’s "Heeramandi", has taken over the directorial reins of "The Royals 2".

“We haven’t lost any working hours. This is a huge unit assembled in Jaisalmer , and the disruption could have been financially catastrophic. But luckily Mitakshara stepped in without losing time,” adds the source.

For those who came in late, filming for Netflix's "The Royals" Season 2 hit a massive roadblock in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The production has come to an abrupt halt after director Jasmeet K. Reen abruptly exited the project just three days into the shooting schedule.The cast and crew were actively shooting a major sequence at the luxurious Suryagarh Hotel when mounting creative differences between producer Rangita Nandy and Jasmeet Reen reportedly led to the director’s sudden exit.

Meanwhile, Bhumi Pednekar is no longer part of "The Royals" Season 2, with Ishaan Khatter returning as the protagonist. The new season also sees Gurfateh Pirzada and Sini Shetty joining the cast as new entrants.

The cast and crew are back on the set and the shooting has resumed without any major disruption.
