Rajinikanth-starrer “Jailer 2” continues to shatter records at the box office, despite entering its third week. While the comedy actioner recently became the first Tamil movie to cross the 800 crore mark globally, it has also achieved a unique milestone.

It has become the first Indian film to gross over ₹75 crore individually in all four major South Indian theatrical markets: Tamil Nadu (₹210.45 crore), Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (₹94.95 crore), Karnataka (₹92.20 crore) and Kerala (₹77.70 crore).

While the biggest blockbusters like “Pushpa 2,” “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” and “Baahubali 2” have done phenomenal business in their respective home states, none of them crossed the ₹75 crore mark in Kerala.

Apart from the domestic market, it has achieved an elite milestone in international markets. With collections of ₹273.50 crore, it is currently the fourth-highest South Indian overseas grosser, surpassing Allu Arjun’s “Pushpa 2” (₹271 crore). It is expected to surpass “Kalki 2898 AD” (₹275 crore) today to grab the third spot on the list.

However, it will be a tough task for “Jailer 2” to reach near “RRR” (₹314.15 crore) and “Baahubali 2” (₹371.16 crore).

With Suriya’s “Scene” and Nayanthara’s “Mookuthi Amman 2” arriving on November 6, “Jailer 2” has three days to enjoy a free run at the ticket windows, especially in Tamil Nadu.

Directed by Nelson, the movie also features Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, Rithvik, S. J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Vidya Balan in pivotal roles. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, who also helmed the first part, the Rajinikanth-starrer is produced by Kalanithi Maran under his banner, Sun Pictures.

Like its prequel, it features cameos from Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, and Jackie Shroff, with Hrithik Roshan and Vijay Sethupathi joining them.

The album for "Jailer 2" is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with the cinematography and editing done by Vijay Kartik Kannan and R. Nirmal, respectively.
