Hrithik Roshan’s Cameo in ‘Jailer 2’ Confirmed, Shooting Dates Locked (EXCLUSIVE)
Rajinikanth's much-anticipated “Jailer 2” is adding more star power to its ensemble cast. Variety India can exclusively confirm that Hrithik Roshan will feature in a special cameo role in the “Jailer” sequel, marking his on-screen reunion with Rajinikanth 40 years after "Bhagwaan Dada."
Following weeks of discussions, Hrithik has officially agreed to be a part of the project and will shoot for his sequence on June 22 and June 23 in Chennai. The “Bang Bang” actor will undergo multiple look tests before filming, with the makers designing an entirely new and never-before-seen avatar specially for his character. His portions will be mounted on a grand scale, presenting Hrithik in a high-octane role that promises to be a treat for his fans. Sources say his cameo comes at a crucial point in the film where he aids Rajinikanth’s character to take the story forward. “Jailer 2” marks Hrithik's first commitment since the release of “War 2” in August 2025.

This collaboration carries a special significance for both Hrithik and Rajinikanth as it reunites them on-screen for the first time since the 1986 action drama “Bhagwaan Dada.” A young Hrithik made his acting debut as a child actor in that film, in which he played the foster son of Rajinikanth’s character. Over the years, Hrithik has often spoken fondly of the experience and his deep respect for the Tamil superstar, repeatedly expressing a desire to work with him again. “Jailer 2” finally brings that reunion to life after four decades.
Like the first film, “Jailer 2” is also packed with high-profile cameos from across Indian cinema, strategically designed to elevate the film’s action quotient and overall storytelling. Hrithik's addition only expands the cameo list, which already includes Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Vijay Sethupathi and Mithun Chakraborty.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, the highly anticipated “Jailer 2” also stars SJ Suryah, Ramya Krishnan, Vidya Balan and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles. The film is eyeing a September 2026 release.
