HBO Makes Major Visual Changes to ‘Harry Potter’ Series Following Fan Criticism
HBO is making sure to take every fan’s feedback seriously when it comes to their straight-to-series adaptation of “Harry Potter.” Ever since the first official clip of the television reboot dropped earlier this year, fans have been dissecting every frame. While they praised some of the creative choices, they criticized the color grading, which looked dull and dark.
HBO has now made a significant change by officially updating footage from its upcoming series. Compared to the original teaser trailer released in March, the new footage looks brighter and warmer. The revised footage was aired as the promotional reel titled “The Best Is Yet To Come” ahead of Episode 7 of “House of the Dragon” Season 3.
With the new change, the characters of the Wizard World are enhanced by richer contrast and more natural lighting. When the first footage was released, fans on social media argued that the series had lost the visual charm and warmth and termed it “washed out” or “drained of color.”

The overall improvement in color grading clearly indicates that HBO has taken note of fans’ complaints.
The cast of the series features Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, and Luke Thallon as Professor Quirrell.
Apart from the above-mentioned cast, the show also stars Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan and Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley.
The first season of the series is officially titled “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone,” using the title from the original book.
