CBFC Reconstituted: Suniel Shetty, Pankaj Tripathi, Preity Zinta, Priyadarshan Among 18 Members

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has a new 18-member line-up, following a reconstitution announced by the Center. The appointments take effect immediately and will remain valid for three years unless superseded by a subsequent government order. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting notified the new composition on September 16, 2026.
The board has been constituted in accordance with Section 3(1) of the Cinematograph Act, 1952 and Rule 3 of the Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, 2024.

Several leading names from the entertainment industry have joined the CBFC. The new members include filmmakers Priyadarshan, Nila Madhab Panda and Abhishek Jain, and actors Suniel Shetty, Pankaj Tripathi, Preity Zinta, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Pallavi Joshi, Manoj Joshi and Roopali Ganguly. Grammy-winning composer Ricky Kej and singer Hansraj Hans represent the music industry.
Also joining the board are Vinod Anupam, Supriya Yarlagadda, Yatindra Mishra, Nishigandha Wad, Waman Kendre and Ramesh Patange, bringing representation from film criticism, literature, theatre and other creative fields.
The earlier CBFC line-up included Vidya Balan, Vivek Agnihotri, Vani Tripathi, Mihir Bhuta, Gautami Tadimalla, Jeevitha Rajasekhar, T. S. Nagabharana and Naresh Chandra Lal. Waman Kendre and Ramesh Patange are among the members continuing from the previous board into the newly announced body.
