Despite a dull pre-Diwali phase, most new releases have managed to attract footfall at the ticket windows. While “Ramanaya” and “Scene” registered big numbers, “Mookuthi Amman 2” opened to a poor first-day response.

‘Ramayana’

Headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi, the movie remained stable on its second day by raking in ₹48.05 crore, taking its total to ₹112.90 crore. Out of the total collections, the original Hindi version has contributed ₹83 crore, followed by the dubbed versions of Kannada (₹12.4 crore) and Telugu (₹10.75 crore), respectively.

In the overseas markets, it has collected ₹86.25 crore, taking its global total to ₹221.05 crore.

‘Scene’

Suriya, Nazriya Fahadh and Naslen-starrer action comedy opened to a great response, as it collected ₹19.15 crore on its first day. While the Tamil version earned ₹16.15 crore, its Telugu-dubbed version raked in ₹3 crore. Despite a big opening, it failed to become Suriya’s highest first-day grosser. The film has grabbed the third spot on the actor’s top openers list after “Kanguva” (₹24 crore) and “Retro” (₹19.25 crore).

Overseas, the film grossed ₹12 crore, taking its worldwide total to  ₹34.25 crore.

'Mookuthi Amman 2'

Nayanthara’s sequel to the fantasy comedy opened poorly on its first day with meagre collections of ₹1.88 crore. Despite featuring an A-lister, it failed to create any pre-release buzz, resulting in a dismal response. It is very crucial for the film to find its footing over the weekend and put up a decent total in the domestic market.

Among the holdover releases, “Jailer 2” has survived at the ticket windows by earning in lakhs. It currently stands at ₹547.65 crore and is expected to end its theatrical run at around ₹550 crore.

The film is the second-highest Indian grosser of the year after “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” (₹1,149.30 crore).
