‘Avengers Endgame: Encore’ Advance Sales: The MCU Re-release Registers Strong Numbers; Maharashtra, Delhi and Karnataka Lead The Way
The re-release of “Avengers: Endgame,” now titled “Avengers Endgame: Encore,” is registering strong numbers in its advance sales. In fact, it is going neck and neck with the new prominent Indian release “The Paradise.” On opening day, the superhero movie sold tickets worth over ₹14 crore, including block bookings.
The film has performed best in Maharashtra, Delhi and Karnataka, which contributed ₹87.25 lakh, ₹81.72 lakh and ₹78.20 lakh, respectively, in advance collections. MCU’s tremendous fanbase once again played a crucial role in making the film the biggest re-release grosser in India, beating films like “Tumbbad,” “Sanam Teri Kasam,” “Laila Majnu,” “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” and “Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein.”

Interestingly, “Avengers: Endgame” earned ₹373.05 crore in India during its original theatrical run. It remains to be seen whether it can surpass “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” (₹500.01 crore) with its re-release collections and become the biggest Hollywood grosser in India. While it will definitely open bigger than Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia’s Hindi film “The Vvaan,” it would be an interesting situation if it impacts the screen count of one of next week’s biggest releases, “Drishyam: The Conclusion,” featuring Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Jaideep Ahlawat and Tabu.
“Avengers: Endgame” (“Avengers Endgame: Encore”) features a star-studded lineup, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow and Josh Brolin. The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who have helmed “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Captain America: Civil War” and “Avengers: Infinity War.” They have also directed the upcoming MCU biggie “Avengers: Doomsday.”
