Akhil Akkineni’s ‘Lenin’ Release Postponed to July 10, Nagarjuna Confirms

Akhil Akkineni’s much-awaited film Lenin has been postponed from its scheduled June 26 release. Confirming the development, his father, Nagarjuna Akkineni, stated that the team needed additional time to fine-tune the film and deliver the best possible version to audiences.
He also assured fans that whenever the film arrives in theatres, they will witness a completely new Akhil on screen. The film is now slated for release on July 10, 2026. Positioned as Akhil’s comeback project after the setback of “Agent,” “Lenin” is a rural action drama set against the backdrop of Rayalaseema, Andhra Pradesh.

The film blends action, romance and emotional drama, with Akhil appearing in a rugged mass avatar. The project has undergone a lengthy production journey. Initially, Sreeleela was cast as the female lead, but she later exited the film. Bhagyashri Borse stepped in as her replacement.
Industry sources reveal that Nagarjuna reviewed the film’s rushes and suggested several refinements, leading to additional filming schedules. The makers believe these changes have significantly improved the final output.
Directed by Murali Kishor Abburu, “Lenin” also features Shivaji, Brahmaji, Getup Srinu, Sudarshan, and Pramod Panju in key roles. The film, produced by Nagarjuna Akkineni and Suryadevara Naga Vamsi under Annapurna Studios and Sithara Entertainments, has music by Thaman. Akhil made his lead debut with “Akhil: The Power of Jua” in 2015 after appearing as a child actor in “Sisindri.” He has since featured in films including “Hello,” “Mr. Majnu,” “Most Eligible Bachelor” and “Agent,” building a filmography that spans romance, action and family entertainers.
