Yash’s ‘Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-ups’ Gets ‘A’ Certificate After CBFC Orders Minor Word Changes

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared “Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-ups” with an ‘Adults Only’ or ‘A’ certificate, ahead of its release on August 26.

The Board has asked the makers to replace or mute certain words in the Kannada version and provide warnings before a scene comprises smoking or drug use. The changes include muting or replacing the word “Tevidiya Paiya” and changing the same in the English subtitles, muting or replacing the word “Tevidiya Pulla” and changing it in the English subtitles and inserting statutory warning for smoking or drug use at the beginning and after the interval.

The duration of the movie stands at 194 minutes and 12 seconds, which comes to 3 hours, 14 minutes and 12 seconds. The Board hasn’t suggested any other changes. The movie went through the certification process in the United Kingdom as well. The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) also issued an ‘Adults Only’ or ‘A’ certificate to the film, warning audiences of violence and sex scenes. They have rated the film 5/5 for violence and injury detail.


In India, “Toxic: A Fairytale for Grownups” was supposed to be released on March 19, alongside “Dhurandhar: The Revenge.” The release date then changed to June 4, and was later confirmed as August 26. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film stars Yash in the titular role, alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and more.
