Shefali Shah and Fardeen Khan to Headline Ektaa Kapoor’s Netflix Period Drama Series (EXCLUSIVE)

Following the success of the Emmy Award-winning crime drama series “Delhi Crime,” Shefali Shah will be seen in another high-profile web series. Variety India has exclusively learned that Shefali will headline Netflix's upcoming period drama “Koke,” produced by Ektaa Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms.

Shefali will star alongside Fardeen Khan in this project, marking their first collaboration together. Fardeen previously starred in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's “Heeramandi.” This will be his second Netflix project. Details of the plot and their characters are under wraps, but sources say that the show is being mounted as a large-scale, ensemble drama series that also features actors from the television industry. Shooting is already underway, with the series expected to premiere on Netflix in early 2027.

“Koke” is being directed by Nupur Asthana, best known for helming Prime Video's popular comedy drama series, “Four More Shots Please!”. Nupur has apparently exited the second season of “The Royals,” the Ishaan Khatter-led romantic comedy series, to take charge of this show.

“Koke” is one of the two upcoming web series Ektaa Kapoor is producing for Netflix India. As Variety India revealed in May, the producer is also backing another Netflix series, directed by Sahir Raza, whose previous credits include shows such as “The Married Woman,” “Bade Acche Lagte Hain 2,” “Illegal-Justice, Out of Order” and “Doctors.”

Speaking of Shefali Shah, she was last seen in the third season of “Delhi Crime." She will next feature in husband Vipul Amrutlal Shah's heist thriller “Hisaab,” which also stars Jaideep Ahlawat and Abhishek Banerjee. She will also be seen in Rishab Shetty's historical epic, “The Pride of Bharat - Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj,” which is scheduled to go on floors in the second half of this year.
