Adarsh Gourav Heads to ‘Alien: Earth’ Season 2 Shoot This Week Following Peter Dinklage Casting (EXCLUSIVE)

Adarsh Gourav is heading back into the world of FX’s “Alien: Earth.” Variety India has learnt that the actor will reprise his role as Slightly in the sci-fi drama’s second season, with production scheduled to begin in June. Gourav is expected to depart for the international shoot in the first week of the month as Noah Hawley’s expansion of the iconic “Alien” franchise moves into its next chapter.

Created by Hawley, the Emmy-winning writer and producer behind “Fargo” and “Legion,” “Alien: Earth” marks the first television series set within the world established by Ridley Scott’s 1979 sci-fi classic “Alien.” Scott serves as an executive producer on the show, which is set on Earth before the events of the original film and explores the collision of corporate power, synthetic life forms and extraterrestrial threats.

Gourav, who plays Slightly, will return as part of an ensemble cast that includes Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay and Timothy Olyphant. The second season also follows the recent casting of Emmy-winning actor Peter Dinklage, who has joined the expanding series in a new role.

“Coming back for Season 2 of ‘Alien: Earth’ feels incredibly special,” Gourav tells Variety India. “Slightly is a character who has stayed with me long after filming ended because of how emotionally complex and unpredictable he is. Getting the opportunity to explore him further in a world created by Noah Hawley and Ridley Scott is both exciting and deeply fulfilling as an actor.”

The actor says he will head overseas shortly before cameras roll on the new season. “I’ll be leaving for the international schedule in the first week of June, and we begin filming shortly after. There’s a huge sense of anticipation around this season because the storytelling becomes even more ambitious. What makes this experience truly remarkable is being part of such an iconic universe alongside an extraordinary cast. Working with actors like Peter Dinklage, Timothy Olyphant and the entire ensemble pushes you creatively every single day.”

The project marks another major international credit for Adarsh Gourav, who first broke out globally with his lead performance in Ramin Bahrani’s adaptation of Aravind Adiga’s Booker Prize-winning novel “The White Tiger.” The role earned him a BAFTA Award nomination for Best Actor and introduced him to international audiences.

Since then, Gourav has steadily built a cross-border career, appearing in Scott Z. Burns’ climate-change anthology series “Extrapolations” for Apple TV+ while continuing to work across Indian film and streaming projects. His recent credits include “Kho Gaye Hum Kahan,” “Guns & Gulaabs” and Reema Kagti’s acclaimed “Superboys of Malegaon.”

The second season of “Alien: Earth” represents the latest expansion of one of Hollywood’s most enduring science-fiction properties. While plot details remain under wraps, production is now gearing up for its next chapter as the franchise continues its move into long-form television storytelling.

A release date for Season 2 has not yet been announced.
