Ranveer Brar On Anthony Bourdain’s Biopic: ‘Tony Broke A Lot Of Stereotypes, Not Just For Chefs’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Anthony Bourdain’s biopic, “Tony” is releasing today in India. Bourdain was not only a celebrated chef but also a writer and TV personality. Sharing his excitement on the release of “Tony” in India, he says, “I am very excited. I think Tony was an anchor of sorts on how wide the spectrum of a chef can be. He broke a lot of stereotypes for a lot of us….and not just chefs. He broke a lot of stereotypes for everybody. I am very excited for the biopic. I think it was long awaited.” Tony is directed by Matt Johnson, who has made movies like “The Dirties” (2013), “Operation Avalanche” (2016), “BlackBerry” (2023) and “Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie” (2025). 

Actor Dominic Sessa who rose to fame with his work in “The Holdovers” (2023) is playing the titular role of chef in the film, which is running in theaters globally. Anthony Bourdain passed away at 61 in France where he was shooting for his show, “Parts Unknown.” His work on TV like “A Cook's Tour” (2002-2003), “Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations” (2005-2012) and “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown” (2013 - 2018) got a lot of appreciation. 

Ranveer Brar, who is one of the top chefs from India has been a part of TV shows like “The Great Indian Rasoi” (2014), “MasterChef India” (2010) and “Celebrity Masterchef” (2025) to name a few. He also made his foray into fictional shows with “Modern Love Mumbai” (2022) and “The Buckingham Murders” (2023). His stint on “The Traitors” was short-lived as he was eliminated in the game of death.
