Ranbir Kapoor Reveals ‘Ramayana: Part Two’ Is Already 50% Complete
Ranbir Kapoor believes the world of "Ramayana" is so vast that even a two-part adaptation only scratches the surface. Speaking during the film's promotional tour in the U.S., Kapoor reflected on the challenge of adapting one of India's most enduring epics for the big screen, saying the material could easily have filled a much longer franchise.
"If you ask me, 'Ramayana' could have been a 10-part film," Kapoor said, adding that director Nitesh Tiwari and the creative team had to carefully determine what to include and what to leave out while remaining faithful to the source material.
The actor, who portrays Lord Ram in the two-part epic, also shared a significant production update, revealing that filming on "Ramayana: Part Two" is already 50% complete.

According to Kapoor, the sequel has been progressing alongside post-production work on the first film, allowing the makers to maintain momentum ahead of its planned 2027 release.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, "Ramayana" stars Kapoor alongside Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, with Sunny Deol playing Hanuman and Ravi Dubey portraying Lakshman. The ensemble also includes Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Aggarwal, Sheeba Chaddha, Vivek Oberoi, Indira Krishnan, Amitabh Bachchan, Mohit Raina, Adinath Kothare and Kunal Kapoor.
Produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios in association with Yash's Monster Mind Creations, the ambitious adaptation is being released in two parts. The first installment is slated to arrive in theatres during Diwali 2026, while the concluding chapter is scheduled for Diwali 2027.
Ranbir Kapoor's latest comments come days after the film's first full trailer generated significant online conversation, offering audiences a closer look at its scale, visual ambition and principal cast ahead of its theatrical release.
