“Ramayana: Rise of a Legend” appears to be heading for separate Hindi and English-language releases in the US, with AMC (American Multi Cinema) listing different runtimes for the two versions of the film. Both are listed for November 5, according to the exhibitor’s listings.
The Hindi version of “Ramayana” has a listed runtime of 3 hours and 15 minutes, while the English-only version, titled “Ramayana: Rise of a Legend,” has a shorter runtime of 2 hours and 45 minutes. The difference in duration is reportedly due to the Hindi version including songs and an interval, while the English version does not.
AMC is treating #Ramayana Hindi as a Separate Release with a higher duration due to songs interval (3 HR 15 MIN) on Nov 5th. Ramayana: RISE OF A LEGEND, an English only film with a shorter duration no songs (2 HR 45 MIN) on Nov 5th. https://t.co/ZDxZ3BDjIC

The listings suggest that the two versions could offer different viewing experiences for audiences in the US. However, it remains to be seen whether the difference in runtime is solely due to the songs and interval or if the versions also differ in other aspects.

The film's US release plans come amid growing interest in the ambitious adaptation of the Indian epic. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, “Ramayana” stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
Opening up about playing Lord Rama, Kapoor said, “Lord Rama's biggest strength is not his bow, it is his Kshama (forgiving nature) - his ability to forgive. Ye role nahi hai. It's not ki mujhe ek film offer hui hai aur role exciting hai. Ye ek zimmedaari hai (This is not a role. It's not as if I was offered a film and the role is exciting. It's a responsibility).”
