Arun Govil, best known for playing Lord Rama in Ramanand Sagar’s iconic television series “Ramayan,” has taken on the role of King Dashrath in “Ramayana: Rise of a Legend.” Now the makers have unveiled a poster with Govil as Rama’s father.
The new poster offers the audiences a first look at his character from the two-part epic. The photo was captioned as, “He once brought Ram to life for a generation. Now, he returns to the world of Ramayana as the King of Ayodhya. Arun Govil as King Dashrath."

The poster captures Govil in a regal avatar, with the detailing of his look reflecting the stature and authority of the King of Ayodhya. The reveal also marks an interesting shift for audiences who have grown up seeing him as Ram, as he now portrays the father of the character he made iconic.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Rocking Star Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.
“Ramayana: Rise of a Legend” is slated to release on November 5, 2026. The second part of the epic will be released on Diwali 2027.

In a behind-the-scenes video released by the makers, Govil had opened up about Ranbir as Rama. He said, “Jo main sochta tha ki Ram aise chalte honge, aise bethte honge, aise dekhte honge, baat karte honge, toh yeh cheezen hain unmein (What I had imagined that Ram would walk like this, sit like this, look like this and speak like this, I can see all those qualities in him). Normally you don't expect that a star would come and touch your feet, but he always does that. Among all the young stars who are available at the moment, Ranbir Kapoor is the closest to play Lord Rama."
