Vidyut Jammwal, who is making Hollywood debut with “Street Fighter” (2026) believes Indian actors are already making their mark in the West, with Priyanka Chopra Jonas among those who have helped pave the way for Indian talent globally. The actress began working in the West in 2015, starring as FBI recruit Alex Parrish in the ABC thriller series “Quantico.”
Speaking to Variety India, Jammwal opened up about the growing international appeal of Indian films such as “Ramayana: Rise of a Legend” and “Varanasi,” and why the conversation around Indian actors in global cinema has already moved forward.

He offers, “We've had people like Priyanka Chopra who's already done it for us. We have people who've already made a mark over there. We're on the path. It's for the West to decide if an Indian actor can be a part of their franchise or if an Indian actor wants to go there. It's quite an open thing. We're there and there’s nothing more to be done. They know about us. We know about them.”
He further points to the changing perception of Indian cinema and talent internationally, suggesting that Indian actors no longer need to prove that they can hold their own in global projects. For Jammwal, the focus now is less on breaking into the West and more on the opportunities that come their way as the worlds of Indian and international cinema continue to intersect.
