‘Mandaadi’ Box Office: Soori’s Sports Drama Overtakes Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘DC’ To Become Fourth-Highest Tamil Grosser Of 2026
After a strong start, Soori’s “Mandaadi” has been performing steadily at the box-office. The sports action drama, which clashed with “Sardar 2,” trumped the Karthi-starrer by a huge margin and is now among the top four Tamil grossers of 2026.
With a current total collection of ₹79.90 crore, it has surpassed the lifetime business of Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi’s “DC,” becoming the fourth-highest Tamil grosser of the year.
Interestingly, it has also become the biggest grosser of Soori as a lead actor, overtaking “Garudan” (₹43.95 crore) and “Viduthalai: Part 2” (₹38.55 crore).

With the film’s stable performance, it has an outright chance to cross the ₹100 crore mark in India. However, with two other prominent Tamil releases, “Meesaya Murukku 2” and “Dorothy” arriving this Friday, it would be interesting to see how Soori’s film performs in the clutter of new films.
Directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi of “Selfie” fame, “Mandaadi” also marks the Tamil debut of Telugu actor Suhas, with Mahima Nambiar and Sathyaraj in supporting roles. It is produced by Elred Kumar under his banner RS Infotainment, with Vetrimaaran serving as creative producer. While S. R. Kathir is the cinematographer for this visually appealing project, Pradeep E. Ragav and G. V. Prakash Kumar have overseen the editing and music departments. Apart from the standard 2D release, it has also been released in IMAX, EPIQ and Dolby Cinema formats.
